Overview

Island Peak (6165m) also called a Inja Tse is located in the Khumbu region of eastern Nepal. It is one of the popular peaks in the world. Since Mt. Everest is the highest mountain on earth, Island Peak gives you a chance to test your strength & endurance at high altitude. It’s a treasure for those who love mountains & wants to explore Sherpa culture, food, lifestyle etc. The breathtaking view of mountains like Lhotse, Makalu, Baruntse, Amadablam, Mera peak etc from the summit of Imja Tse will definitely make you happy cry.

The trek starts & ends at Lukla. Along the way you'll see many monasteries & stupas which carries a religious significant & reflection on their life style. Although the Nepal is a small country there are hundreds of peaks still undiscovered, unexplored. Khumbu is the glory of the multiple peaks, glaciers, passes, lakes & big mountains including Mt. Everest. The most unique" Yaks" in the Everest base camp trail lures you, make you stand & grab a photographs/videos presenting snow- capped mountains on background. It is also rich in biodiversity, rare wildlife like snow leopard, red panda, Himalayan Thar, Blue Sheep, Himalayan Yak & so on.
  • Charming Villages - Villages like Khumjung, Syangboche (old & small airport), Namche, Dingboche, Pangboche are the fantastic places to breathe & experiment breathtaking views of colourful roofs around the mountains.

1
Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m)

There will be private cab / jeep to pick up you from Airport & transfer to the hotel. It takes 30-40 minutes to reach the hotel. Sleep overnight at hotel.

Rest /Trek preparation day

In this day we prepare ourselves as we need proper clothing, equipment, accessories, gears etc. to climb the trekking peak. We will check if there's something missing or need to buy.

Fly to Lukla (2840m) & Trek to Phakding (2610m)

We wake up early in the morning eat breakfast & fly to Lukla (2840m). It takes 25-30 minutes to fly from Kathmandu to Lukla depend on weather/traffic. We continue trek toward Phakding (2610m) passing the beautiful villages like Chheplung & Thadokoshi gaun. Its approx. 8 Km (5miles) & carry 4-5 hours depending upon walk. It’s a first day so we walk slow & steady as the trail is descent & easy. Sleep overnight at Lodge/Guesthouse.

Trek to Namche (3440m)

The distance between Phakding & Namche Bazaar (3440m) is approx. 10-11 Km (6-7 Miles) & carry 6-7 Hours including rests & lunch. In this day we steep ascent about 830m after lunch. We enter the Sagarmatha national park at Monjo (permit check point) & cross the famous Hillary suspension bridge after beautiful Jorsalle village. Although the day becomes little harder, the overwhelming settlement of Namche Bazaar fades your sweat & blooms you further. Sleep overnight at Lodge/Guesthouse.

Acclimatization/Rest Day at Namche (3440m)

As we reach the altitude like 3480m our body needs to be acclimatized. As we have various destinations/ spots to observe around we choose to hike Everest View Hotel /Khumjung via Syangboche (oldest airport). We will have a great opportunity to see the beautiful mountains like Mt Amadablam, Mt Thamsherku, Mt. Lhotsse & Mt. Everest from the Everest view hotel view point. The Hillary school in Khumjung & the monastery (has a Yeti Scalp) is the icon of the Khumbu valley. Sleep overnight at Lodge/Guesthouse. Sleep overnight at Lodge/Guesthouse.

Trek to Tengboche (3867m)

In this day we do a snake walk, downhill & uphill. Crossing 10 Km of distance within 5-6 Hours we arrive Tengboche (3867m). We lunch at Phunki Tenga a beautiful lunch point beside the Dudh Koshi river & ascent approx. 2 hours crossing pine & rhododendron forest. Sleep overnight at Lodge/Guesthouse.

Trek to Dingboche (4410m)

As we already been to the wonderful Tengboche monastery the day before & experiment mountains, we further the trek toward Dingboche (4410m). We walk approx. 10-11 Km this day, though the trail is not that difficult you’d feel the altitude as soon you touch Dingboche. Sleep overnight at Lodge/Guesthouse.

Trek to Chhukung (4730m)

This is short day with the gradual ascent & easy trail. The distance between Dingboche to Chukkung is approx. 5 Km & duration is not more than 3 hours Sleep overnight at Lodge/Guesthouse.

Acclimatization: Hike to Chhukung Ri (5545m) & back to Chhukung (4730m)

As we go higher air gets thinner & we may suffer from Acute Muontain Sickness (AMS). Yes, I'm talking about acclimatization, eating proper food, drinking plenty of water & giving rest to the body are the measures to prevent yourself from AMS. In this day we will climb high explore Chhukung valley, panoramic view of several mountains like, Mt. Lohtse, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Amadablam, Mt Baruntse, Island peak etc. from the Chhukung Ri. (5545m)." Climb High Sleep Low " is the key to acclimatize well. Sleep overnight at Lodge/Guesthouse.

Trek to Island Base Camp (5100m)

The distance between Chhukung & Island Base Camp is approx. 6 Km. It will carry around 4 hours to reach Base Camp. We cross the Imja glacier lake & huge glacier/moraine beside the Chhukung. The trail goes smooth ascent along with Imja lake. Sleep overnight at Camp/tent.

Climb Island Peak (6165m) & Trek back to Chhukung (4730m)

Walk up early in the morning like 2;00 AM have some quick breakfast we continue our hike toward Summit (6165m) carriying small backpack with bottle of water, camera, chocolates etc. Remember the head lamp is the most with the full battery on it. As the trail is steep from the begning the elevation gain will be almost (1050m) until top. The majestic view of the mountain Lhotse just in your front will make you happy cry. As soon you reach on the top of Imja Tse via high camp & crampon point, you'll have a opportunity to experiment Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Barun Tse, Mt. Amadablam, Mera peak, Imja Tse glacier Lake, Abu Lapcha Pass etc from your closer. It will carry around 10 hours to reach Chhukung including rests & lunch at Base Camp. Sleep overnight at Lodge/Guesthouse.

Reserve Day

The Reserve Day is most prominent day among all the days. As we all know mountains is not ours, it belongs to the nature. Although there's no any conspiracy to make happen bad, we become unlucky sometimes. There are several issues which lets us wait & watch: Bad weather (Windy, heavy snowfall, whiteout etc.) Need more time to acclimatize (not every human body is same, some may need few times more to adapt the altitude)

Trek to Deboche (3820m)

Heading to Deboche from Chhukung is a easy day. We descent all the way to the Sommare & Pangboche crossing a big plain land between Sommare & Pangboche like airport). The distance between Chhukung to Deboche is 14-15 Km & the walk hour is 6-7 hours including rests & lunch. Sleep overnight at Lodge/Guesthouse.

The distance between Deboche to Namche is about 12 Km with walking hours of 5-6.

In this day we ascent, descent & walk plain trail crossing some pine & rhododendron forest. As we reach Namche bazaar we can celebrate our success going to the music bar, pubs etc & relax some time joyfully. Sleep overnight at Lodge/Guesthouse.

Namche to Lukla is our final day trek & is all the way descent till Jhorsalle apart the trek goes gradual ups & downs.

It takes about 6-7 hours to arrive Lukla with the easy walk. Sleep overnight at Lodge/Guesthouse.

We fly toward Kathmandu early morning after breakfast.

We celebrate dinner meal as a farewell program & discuss about the trek & further trips/ projects. Sleep overnight at hotel.
